माँ चंद्रघंटाMaa Chandraghanta
माँ चंद्रघंटा नवदुर्गा का तीसरा स्वरूप हैं। उनके मस्तक पर घंटे के आकार का अर्धचंद्र सुशोभित है, इसलिए वे चंद्रघंटा कहलाती हैं। नवरात्रि के तीसरे दिन उनकी पूजा से भय दूर होता है और साहस व शांति दोनों का आशीर्वाद मिलता है।Maa Chandraghanta is the third of the nine forms of Durga. A crescent moon shaped like a bell adorns her forehead, which is why she is called Chandraghanta. Worshipping her on the third day of Navratri removes fear and brings the blessing of both courage and peace.

माँ चंद्रघंटा का शरीर स्वर्ण के समान चमकीला है। वे सिंह पर सवार हैं और उनकी दस भुजाएँ हैं, जिनमें वे त्रिशूल, गदा, तलवार, धनुष-बाण, कमल, जप माला और कमंडल धारण करती हैं। उनका एक हाथ अभय मुद्रा में और एक वर मुद्रा में रहता है। वे सदा युद्ध के लिए तत्पर दिखती हैं, फिर भी भक्तों के लिए उनका रूप अत्यंत सौम्य और कल्याणकारी है। मान्यता है कि उनके घंटे की ध्वनि से दुष्ट शक्तियाँ भयभीत होकर भाग जाती हैं।Maa Chandraghanta's body shines like gold. She rides a lion and has ten arms, holding a trident, mace, sword, bow and arrow, lotus, japa mala and kamandalu. One hand is raised in the abhaya (fearlessness) mudra and one in the varada (boon-giving) mudra. She always appears ready for battle, yet for her devotees her form is gentle and benevolent. It is believed that the sound of her bell makes evil forces flee in fear.

माँ चंद्रघंटा की कथाThe story of Maa Chandraghanta
माँ चंद्रघंटा देवी पार्वती का वह रूप हैं जो भगवान शिव से विवाह के समय प्रकट हुआ। कठोर तपस्या के बाद जब शिवजी पार्वती से विवाह के लिए बारात लेकर हिमालय के द्वार पहुँचे, तो उनके साथ भूत, प्रेत, गण और अघोरी थे और स्वयं शिवजी शरीर पर भस्म और गले में सर्प धारण किए हुए थे।
यह भयानक रूप देखकर पार्वती की माता मैना देवी डरकर मूर्छित हो गईं। तब देवी पार्वती ने चंद्रघंटा का रूप धारण किया और भगवान शिव से विनती की कि वे सबके लिए सुंदर और सौम्य रूप में आएँ। शिवजी ने उनकी बात मानकर मनोहर राजकुमार का रूप धारण किया और फिर दोनों का विवाह आनंद से संपन्न हुआ।
माँ चंद्रघंटा का यह स्वरूप दिखाता है कि वे एक ओर दुष्टों के लिए भयंकर हैं और दूसरी ओर अपने भक्तों और परिवार के लिए शांति और मंगल लाने वाली हैं। इसीलिए उन्हें साहस और शांति दोनों की देवी माना जाता है।
Maa Chandraghanta is the form of Goddess Parvati that appeared at the time of her marriage to Lord Shiva. After her severe penance, when Shiva arrived at the gates of Himavan's palace with his wedding procession, he came with ghosts, spirits, ganas and ascetics, his body smeared with ash and serpents around his neck.
Seeing this fearsome sight, Parvati's mother Maina Devi fainted in fright. Then Goddess Parvati took the form of Chandraghanta and requested Lord Shiva to appear in a pleasing, gentle form for everyone's sake. Shiva agreed and took the form of a charming prince, and the wedding was then celebrated with joy.
This form of Maa Chandraghanta shows that she is fierce towards the wicked, and at the same time brings peace and auspiciousness to her devotees and family. That is why she is revered as the Goddess of both courage and calm.

स्नान और वस्त्रBath and clothing
सुबह स्नान करके साफ़ वस्त्र पहनें। माँ चंद्रघंटा की पूजा में लाल या सुनहरे रंग के वस्त्र शुभ माने जाते हैं।Bathe in the morning and wear clean clothes. Red or golden clothes are considered auspicious for Maa Chandraghanta's puja.

कलश और अखंड ज्योतिKalash and akhand jyoti
कलश को प्रणाम करें, जौ में जल दें और अखंड ज्योति में घी डालकर उसे जलता रखें। पूजा स्थान को फिर से साफ़ और सुगंधित करें।Bow to the kalash, water the barley and add ghee to keep the akhand jyoti burning. Clean the puja space again and make it fragrant.

गणेश और कलश पूजनGanesh and kalash puja
पहले भगवान गणेश और कलश का पूजन करें। फिर माँ की प्रतिमा पर गंगाजल छिड़कें और लाल चुनरी अर्पित करें।First worship Lord Ganesh and the kalash. Then sprinkle Ganga jal on the Mother's image and offer a red chunri.

ध्यान और आवाहनDhyan and invocation
"पिण्डजप्रवरारूढा" ध्यान मंत्र पढ़कर माँ चंद्रघंटा का आवाहन करें। उनके सिंह पर सवार, दस भुजाओं वाले रूप का ध्यान करें।Recite the dhyan mantra "Pindaja Pravararudha" and invite Maa Chandraghanta. Meditate on her ten-armed form seated on a lion.

पूजन सामग्री और घंटीOfferings and the bell
माँ को रोली, कुमकुम, अक्षत, चंदन, लाल फूल और कमल अर्पित करें। इस दिन पूजा के समय घंटी बजाने का विशेष महत्व है, क्योंकि घंटा माँ का प्रतीक है।Offer roli, kumkum, rice, sandalwood, red flowers and lotus to the Mother. Ringing the bell during the puja has special importance on this day, since the bell is her symbol.

माँ चंद्रघंटा को दूध या दूध से बनी मिठाई, जैसे खीर, का भोग लगाने की परंपरा है। भोग के बाद इसे प्रसाद के रूप में बाँटें।It is traditional to offer milk or a milk-based sweet such as kheer to Maa Chandraghanta. After the offering, share it as prasad.

"ॐ देवी चन्द्रघण्टायै नमः" का 108 बार जाप करें। दुर्गा सप्तशती या चालीसा का पाठ करें और घंटी बजाते हुए घी के दीपक व कपूर से माँ चंद्रघंटा की आरती करें।Chant "Om Devi Chandraghantayai Namah" 108 times. Read the Durga Saptashati or Chalisa and perform Maa Chandraghanta's aarti with a ghee lamp and camphor while ringing the bell.
